The Summit at Big Spring Park

The Summit at Big Spring Park is an eight (8) story, 79,000 square foot office building in downtown Huntsville. Providing unique and spectacular views of Big Spring Park, the building has been designed to create a visually rich impression of understatement, quality and stature. Its composition is vertical in design, alternating between architectural soft tone pre-cast panels and semi-reflective glass, providing continuous natural light diffusion into all floors of the building. Essentially rectangular in form and features, each floor offers approximately 10,000 square feet and multiple corner offices. Floor to ceiling windows accentuate views of the landscape and water features associated with Big Spring Park. As part of the project, two levels of parking were added to an existing 25 year old parking deck. The challenge of this project was simultaneously resolving the many specific program and site requirements. The design had to accommodate a variety of users and functions, while still allowing for the possibility of potential future expansions. The site development required the demolition of an existing building; connecting, expanding and reconfiguring an existing parking deck all while addressing the concerns of building adjacent to a historic Huntsville landmark. The planning of the building and deck expansion had to accommodate pedestrian and vehicular circulation for daily use by building tenants, periodic use during regular downtown events and provide access to drive thru tellers for a bank tenant. We have designed and engineered various tenant spaces through out the building. The eighth floor houses a 3,000 square foot event venue. It includes exterior terraces and a catering kitchen to support a variety of event types. Designed to be compatible with the serene and picturesque environment of Big Spring Park, the building is an exciting and proud addition to Huntsville’s skyline.
